WWOOF

As a community and working community (Care Farm) we want to work with and learn about organic farming. Sustainable living and organic food and agriculture are important values for us as a biological care farm. That's why we are affiliated with WWOOF, a global organization.

An additional advantage is that by getting volunteers from other countries to the Golden sun in Borger, we get to know other cultures. This is perceived as very valuable within our communities.

WWOOF stands for World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms. It is a worldwide program that brings organic farmers (the Whosts) into contact with people who want to put their hands on an organic farm. WWOOF was founded in 1971 and has since become a network of more than 80,000 volunteers, spread over 100 countries. Also in the Netherlands! If you want WOOFFen in Borger (Drenthe), you can go to the golden Sun.

WWOOF: Fair Exchange

The principle is simple: WWOOF volunteers work on our care farm and in return they get food, shelter and an opportunity to learn more about organic and sustainable life. This is how the organic company comes to volunteers and thus volunteers come to cost and indwelling and, more importantly, a good learning company. Of money or ranking is not at WOOFF. The programme is a partnership based on respect and trust.

Are you ready to become WOOFFer? There is not (yet) a national WOOFFer group in the Netherlands, but you can, of course, work as WOOFFer. Do you want to work as WOOFFer and live on the Golden sun? Please feel free to contact us!
